Hook of the Day: Heart "Barracuda"

by Wayne

Well, we've heard this before. Republican uses bad ass rock song during their campaign without permission. Performers of bad ass rock song want nothing to do with said candidate.

Quoth Heart's Nancy Wilson (after Sarah Palin used the Hook of the Day during her speech at the RCN):

Sarah Palin’s views and values in NO WAY represent us as American women. We ask that our song ‘Barracuda’ no longer be used to promote her image. The song ‘Barracuda’ was written in the late ’70s as a scathing rant against the soulless, corporate nature of the music business, particularly for women. (The ‘barracuda’ represented the business.) While Heart did not and would not authorize the use of their song at the RNC, there’s irony in Republican strategists’ choice to make use of it there.

Well put. Hopefully, Nancy won't mind that WE use the song here.

Oooooooooooooooooohh, Barracuda!

I loved that when I heard it this morning. Rock music just ain't buying it. They should just stick with some of the country music they've been playing. Like that dude that wrote the song "Raising McCain."

For a party that thinks so poorly of the entertainment industry, they sure do like to use their product don't they?

And it's kind of funny that they keep opening the door for awesome statements against them like this...
